For maintenance of our apparel collection, it all depends on how often you're riding and the weather conditions. As a rule of thumb:
- Day rides, hosing your jacket down would suffice and wash with tech wash every 20 to 30 days of use
- Extended trips offroad, washing it with tech wash after your trip would be valuable to ensure the fabric keeps its breathability.
Use your best judgment. If your garment looks dirty or is no longer beading water, it’s time to give it a wash. If it's fully caked with mud, you can use a hose or pressure washer to remove the heavy mud and debris. When using a washer, make sure to choose a delicate setting, and always hang dry!
What cleaning agent should you use? Using a tech wash is what we recommended. It's vital in the waterproofing of gear, as washing them doesn't quite do the trick, especially if you wash them in just a regular detergent, which is actually adverse to the material.
We recommend using a cleaning agent made specifically for technical fabric, like Tech Wash by Nikwax.
You may also use a liquid free-rinsing soap or gentle detergent. Avoid detergents that contain fabric softeners, fragrances, whiteners, or colorants.
