The maintenance of our apparel collection depends on how often you're riding and the weather conditions. As a rule of thumb:
- Day rides, hosing your jacket down would suffice, and wash with tech wash every 20 to 30 days of use
- For extended trips offroad, washing it with tech wash after your trip would be valuable to ensure the fabric keeps its breathability.
Use your best judgment! If your garment looks dirty or is no longer beading water, it’s time to give it a wash. If it's fully caked with mud, you can use a hose or pressure washer to remove the heavy mud and debris. When using a washer, make sure to choose a delicate setting.
Garment Care per Garment
Basilisk Jacket & Pant / Rak Pullover / Rak Overpant
- Machine wash warm (110F / 40C) with a high-performance cleaner; if washing with a conventional liquid laundry detergent, rinse again to remove all traces of detergent. Tumble dry low to rejuvenate the durable water-repellant (DWR) finish. Do not dry clean or use fabric softeners, bleach, or stain removal products.
Ectotherm
- Wash warm separately. Tumble dry low. Do NOT use bleach, iron, or dry clean.
Jackaloft & Surveyor Jacket
- Front-load ONLY Machine washable; use a mild detergent or tech wash product such as Gear Aid's Pro Wash on a gentle cold-water cycle. Do not use fabric softeners or bleach. Tumble dry on low or line dry. If tumble dry on low, promptly remove the garment to maintain the best loft.
Strata Merino Thermal Top and Bottoms
- Machine wash cold, inside out, on a delicate cycle. Use gentle detergent. Lay flat to try; do not iron or dry clean.
Graph Ultralight Base Layer & Workhorse Jersey
- Machine wash cold with like colors. No bleach, and tumble dry low. Do not iron or dry clean.
Woodsman Pant / Kiger Pant / Surveyor Pant
- Wash warm separately. Tumble dry low. Do NOT use bleach, iron, or dry clean.
Cleaning agents for waterproof gear: We recommend using a tech wash, like Nikwax. It's vital for waterproofing gear, as washing it doesn't quite do the trick, especially if you wash it with a regular detergent, which is actually adverse to the material.
For garments with a bit of extra funk, we recommend Revivex Odor Eliminator!
You may also use a liquid-free-rinsing soap or gentle detergent. Avoid detergents that contain fabric softeners, fragrances, whiteners, or colorants.
